The Urban Implementation Plan of the Exhibition Center of Thessaloniki is approved.

The  final plan for the implementation of the Spatial Plan of the Thessaloniki's fair area was unanimously approved today, at a meeting of the Central Council for Urban Affairs and Disputes, chaired by the General Secretary for Spatial Planning and Urban Environment.

Following the approval of the Spatial Plan of the TIF' area, on April 15, 2020, by the Metropolitan Planning Council of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, within 4 months, the second decisive step for the renovation of the Exhibition Center was made.

The Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Dimitris Oikonomou, stated: "In record time, they were approved by the RIS, the Special Urban Plan and the Urban Plan of Implementation, putting the Prime Minister's  commitment of fulfillment in the final stretch, based on the Government's program statements.

The renovation of the Thessaloniki's Exhibition Center will create an international development pole with modern infrastructure, green spaces, for leisure and culture activities. The contribution of the General Secretary of Spatial Planning and Urban Environment, Efthymios Bakogiannis, was decisive in this project and I thank him for that ".

More specifically, at the meeting, it was decided to approve the final plan for the Implementation of the Spatial Plan of the Exhibition Center of Thessaloniki (TIF), according to articles 8 and 10 of the Law 4447/2016, with the modification and implementation of the approved road plan in Thessaloniki. TIF Building Blocks, with the abolition of road and building lines, common and buildable spaces and the definition of new road and building lines, common and buildable spaces, building contours, areas of building conditions and free use of land, green spaces as well as free space in common use.

Regarding the determination of land uses, in Central sectors I, II, III, IV and V were approved the Central City Functions of article 4 of PD 59/2018 and in sector VI the Special Uses-Sports Facilities of article 13 of PD 59/2018 .

Regarding the determination of building conditions, a Maximum Permitted Building equal to 96,000 sq.m. was approved, in the whole of the Building Block is not counted the existing construction of the Alexandreio Athletic Melathro of Thessaloniki. The coverage rate is 45% of the total Building Block.
